W. Taz Morell, P.E., P.L.S.

President — 35 Years of Experience

Taz is the President and Founder of Morell Engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor, he oversees the firm’s engineering and surveying services and provides leadership across a wide range of projects. Under his leadership, Morell Engineering has grown from a small firm into a full-service engineering company. Taz is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. He is also involved with the Limestone County Economic Development Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Rotary Club of Athens.

Brad Williams, P.E.

Senior Civil Site & Transportation Manager — 20 Years of Experience

Brad is a Senior Civil Site & Transportation Manager with experience in municipal engineering, commercial and industrial site development, and transportation design. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1996. Brad is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Alabama Society of Professional Engineers.

Logan Bell, P.E.

Senior Transportation Manager — 12 Years of Experience

Logan is a Senior Transportation Manager specializing in roadway, aviation, and pedestrian access improvements, including design and project management. His experience also includes construction administration and CE&I oversight. Logan serves as the Huntsville Office Lead and Aviation Lead and has contributed to major airport, roadway, pedestrian, and construction projects, including Taxiway Whiskey, the ARFF Station, Lindsay Lane Widening, Madison Boulevard Resurfacing and Access Improvements, and the MidTown Centre Access Improvements and Pryor Street Roundabout. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2014.

Ben Duncan, P.E.

Ben is a seasoned civil engineer with experience in campus improvement projects for K–12 and higher education clients. He specializes in grading, drainage, utility, and site infrastructure design that enhances safety, functionality, and long-term performance. With additional experience in transportation design, Ben takes a comprehensive approach to campus access, circulation, and roadway integration. He led the civil design for the new Elkmont Elementary School, delivering a modern campus layout focused on safe circulation and resilient infrastructure. Ben earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 2003.

Joseph Higginbotham, P.E.

Senior Civil Site Manager — 15 Years of Experience

Joseph focuses on civil engineering design for commercial developments and residential subdivisions. His experience includes construction layout, 3D construction modeling, transportation, subdivision design, planning and zoning, site development, and ADA pedestrian facilities. His highlight projects include Athens Bible School, the TBAKI Manufacturing Plant, Jimmy Gill Park, and the TriGreen dealership and warehouse, as well as the Links at Canebrake, Founders Pointe, Emma at Arabella Village, and King Estates Subdivision. Collin Hays

Construction Materials Testing Manager

Collin joined Morell Engineering in 2014. He is responsible for managing construction materials testing, performing special inspections, and is the Nuclear Gauge Resource Officer. Collin holds the following certifications: ICC Special Inspector Soils, ICC Special Inspector Concrete, ICC Special Inspector Masonry, ICC Special Inspector Fireproofing, ACI-Field Tech Level 1, ACI-Strength Tech, ALDOT Concrete Technician, ALDOT Asphalt Level 1 Lab Inspector, ALDOT Roadway Technician, ALDOT Nuclear Gauge Certification and Qualified Credential Inspector (QCI). Collin attended Calhoun Community College where he studied Business Administration.

Shirley Brown

Office Manager

Shirley joined Morell Engineering in 2015. Shirley is our Office Manager and is responsible for all accounting, billing, payroll, and human resources. Shirley earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Athens State University.

Alli Gower, E.I.

Transportation Engineer — 5 Years of Experience

Alli is a Transportation Engineer with an educational background in civil engineering. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2021.

Del Roberts

Senior Civil Designer — 31 Years of Experience

Del is a Senior Civil Designer with more than three decades of experience in the civil engineering industry. He studied drafting at the Limestone Career Technical Center and Calhoun Community College and is highly proficient in Carlson Software and AutoCAD. His expertise includes civil site design, land development, subdivision layout and design, commercial site planning, presentation drawings, and ALDOT permit drawings. His notable projects include numerous phases of Canebrake, Asahi Kasei Athens—including road and rail infrastructure—and Sugar Creek Elementary.

Don is the Utilities Manager at Morell Engineering, specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama in 1986 and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1972. Evan Horne
